Eureka is a science museum located in Halifax, West Yorkshire. Its perfect for primary school age kids, but there is plenty for younger ones to do too. With two floors of fun experiments and immersive exhibits, its easy to spend a few hours here. There is also a café and large picnic area, as well as a giant sandpit just outside!

Opening Times and Tickets:
Eureka is open Tuesday to Sunday during term time, and daily during the school holidays. When you buy a ticket you also get admission for the next 12 months. Children under 1 are free. There is another Eureka site in Wirral, and you can upgrade your ticket for admission to both sites if you want!

Prams and Accessibility:
Prams are very welcome at Eureka and everywhere is suitable for them. For those that don’t want to push them around all day, there are several buggy parks.
It is also a highly accessible museum, with wheelchair access everywhere. There is also a sensory room that can be used for those that need a bit of extra peace during the day.

Things to do at Eureka
1. Immerse yourself into science! From the science of sound, to how our bodies work, everything is interactive and learned through experimentation. Most of this is aimed at primary school age kids, but there is lots for the little ones to do too. One of my favourite parts was the Spark Gallery, where you could change how the wall looked through dance.

2. Explore with the little ones. My 13 month old was far too young to understand a lot what was going on, but loved the Desert Discover and Sound Garden, which were both specific areas for under 5s. As we went in the school holidays, I did find that lots of older siblings were also in the area too, but it was still lots of fun. There were flowers to smell, soft baby areas to play in, clothes to dress up with and much more.

3. Have fun with roleplay. A large part of the museum is dedicated to ‘Living and Working Together’ – a wonderful mini town complete with everything you would expect to find, including shops and a bank.
